FAQ
Common questions.
Answers based on how Simplify SMS actually works today.
What is Simplify SMS?
A school management platform: one place for a school to manage its students, teachers, parents, and accountants, run its academic year — attendance, exams, marks, and report cards — and collect fees.
Who can use it?
Six roles are supported: System Owner (platform operator), School Admin, Teacher, Student, Parent, and Accountant — each with their own account and their own view of the system.
Does it support multiple schools?
Yes. Simplify SMS is built as a multi-school platform from the ground up — a System Owner can operate one school or many, and each school's data is kept fully separate from every other.
Does it support grades and sections?
Yes. Grades are set up per school, and sections are optional within a grade — a school that doesn't split a grade into sections isn't forced to invent one.
Does it support semesters?
Yes. A school defines its academic year and the semesters within it, and academic records (like exams) are tied to a semester.
Does it support attendance?
Yes, at the period and subject level — attendance is recorded per class session, not just a single daily mark.
Does it support examinations and marks?
Yes. Assessment types (continuous assessment, midterm, final, or your school's own structure) are configurable per school, and marks are recorded against exams tied to a teacher's own teaching assignments. Report cards are generated from the result.
Does it support monthly school fees?
Yes. Fee structures support monthly billing, each student gets a fee assignment with a running balance, and payments are recorded with a server-generated receipt.
How does multi-tenancy work?
Every record in the system belongs to exactly one school. Which school you can see and act within is derived from your account on the server — never from anything sent by the browser — so one school's data is never reachable from another school's account.
How is access controlled?
By role, enforced on the server for every request. What a Teacher, Student, Parent, or Accountant can see and do is checked server-side — the interface reflecting your role is a convenience, not the actual security boundary.
